Great small town cafe with a pleasant staff. The food was good and had decent portions at a good price. The biscuits and gravy had some of the softest biscuits I have had in a long time.

I was my first time at this café. It's a casual, pleasant restaurant. The food was good. My hamburger was delicious. The fish fry was also very good. Service was outstanding. They close at 1:30 pm and reopen at 4 pm.

Did someone say, “Prime Rib?” We’re blessed to live only about 10 minutes from the Shamrock Café in Venice, FL. I think we’ve dined on their fare 4 times now. Most recently, a week ago. Saturday is Prime Rib day at the café, so we decided to have a go at it. Of course, the staff is always amazingly friendly and game to explain meals to you. Don’t let the moniker fool you: this is a French café—with subtle reminders. A short list of wines on the table placard are all French wines. I think the dishes have a French flair. Seems like a small thing, but I find the vegetables seem fresh always and prepared with care. Saturday, I had the beets and they were delicious. My wife thought the baby carrots were the best she ever tasted—that’s high compliment since she hates vegetable and is incredibly finicky. The baked potato was cooked in foil and creamy delicious. The guest of honor, prime rib (one medium, one medium rare) did not disappoint. Here I thought the meat flavor was the clearest indicator of a French touch. Succulent, done perfectly—just the right amount of marbling. Tried not to wolf it down—failed! The au jus has a distinctly different flavor which I couldn’t identify. I like my broth dip to have a bit beefier flavor, but it was OK. Only other thing: Thought the entrée could have been served a little warmer. Every time we’ve dined, the chef has come to the table to check on our satisfaction with the meal. Honestly, this neighborhood sweet spot tucked away in Venice is highly recommended by us!

We had a hit and miss experience at the Shamrock Cafe. Our service was great and we enjoyed our time. With our food, we had both good and bad. The meatloaf was average at best. The scallops and shrimp had a distinct taste that we were not fond of. We can see others lining it though. The prime rib was very good as were the salads and mashed potatoes. Overall, we spent about $120 for 4 adults and a child. With a bunch of other places to try, we probably won’t be back in a while but it is worth a try if you are in the area especially because the service was very good.

I went in Friday and placed a large order for my work on Saturday (23 people) this included a vast selection from their large selection of lunches. The food was not only ready on time, it was prepared with love, labeled with each individual’s name on their food so there was no confusion. This food made absolutely everyone happy!!! It was all fresh, hot, delicious and great quality!! The owners are wonderfully friendly people with an amazing restaurant!!! Thank you for making our Saturday special!
